Dogsled expedtion on the East coast of Greenland with local guides, descendants of the last Inuit contacted by the white man
Travel on the ice sea by dogsled in the traditional way with Inuit guides. Route among huge icebergs trapped in the frozen sea in one of the few places in the world where dogsled still is used as main way of transportation. Visit tiny and remote Inuit villages in the area of Ammassalik where were contacted the last Inuit (Eskimo) by the white man.
We might have the opportunity to see Polar Bears. More than 200 km of route through towering glaciers, ice sea in constant motion and steeply mountains where is possible watching seals, arctic hares and other polar wildlife. The route runs along the Denmark Strait nearby the ice floes area where polar bears move and hunt.

TRAVEL PROGRAM

Day 1
- Flight country of residence - Reykjavik.
- Transfer to the city of Reykjavik.
- Overnight in Reykjavik.
- Dinner at your own.

Day 2
- Breakfast at your own.
- Transfer to Reykjavik Domestic Airport at your own.
- Flight Reykjavik - Kulusuk (East Greenland).
- Visit the small village of Kulusuk of 290 inhabitants located on the island of the same name.
- Dinner at local house.
- Overnight in local house.

Day 3
- Breakfast at local house.
- Preparation of the expedition gear for the dogsled expedition.
- Free time to stroll through Kulusuk Island.
- Dinner at local house.
- Overnight in local house.

Day 4
- Breakfast at local house.
-Starting of the dogsled expedition with Inuit guides in the traditional way. For millennia the symbiosis between man and dog has made the Inuit survive in the most extreme climate of the planet. This area is one of the few places in the world where it is still used the dogsled as regular way of transport. Here you can learn from first-hand the movement techniques of the Inuit. On our way north we will cross passes between mountainous islands to reach the Denmark Strait through the Ikasartik Fjord where icerbergs keep as prisoners in the ice.

Day 5
- Breakfast in hunting hut.
- We will continue our dogsled ride inside the Ikasartivaq fjord reaching Erqiligarteq Islands and the tiny island of Imilik on the edge of the ice pack where polar bears usually hunt their favorite prey: the Seal.
- We will finish our route in the isolated island of Uigerte.
- Expedition food during the route.
- Dinner in tent.
- Overnight in tent.

Day 6
- Breakfast in tent.
- The route continues with the passage between Iivirlaq and Manigsikajik islands to reach the small village of Sermiliaaq with just 220 inhabitants located at a long isthmus. This traditional settlement is the northernmost inhabited place in the area Angmagssalik.
- Visit Sermiliaaq where we will see from first hand how is life in a remote and isolated traditional village in Greenland.
- Dinner in a local house
- Overnight in a local house at Sermiligaq village.

Day 7
- Breakfast at local house.
- Continuing our journey by dogsled through the Ikasak and Nordre Ikerasaq to reach again the area of floating icebergs.
- Riding on the frozen sea we will reach the island of Tukingaleq located in front of the glacier tongue Apusineq.
- Expedition food during the route.
- Dinner in tent.
- Overnight in tent.

Day 8
- Breakfast in tent.
- Our route heads southwest on a long crossing onto ice sea where ice floes escort the maritime ice stuck on the coast.
- In the evening we will camp on the shore of the tiny island called Uigertivit directly facing the vast frozen ocean.
- Expedition food during the route.
- Dinner in hunting hut.
- Overnight in hunting hut.

Day 9
- Breakfast in hunting hut.
- In other long run over open ice sea we will reach, with the Greenlandic dogsled the Qartuluk Bau located at the eastern end of the island of Ingingaleq.
- Expedition food during the route.
- Dinner in tent.
- Overnight in tent.

Day 10
- Breakfast in tent.
- From Ingingaleq nos we will go to the Eastern end of the island of Kulusuk, where we will stay overnight in the abrupt east side.
- Expedition food during the route.
- Route through the southern coast of Kulusuk Island to reach to the village of the same name through a labyrinth of tiny islets.
- Arrival to Kulusuk
- Dinner at local house.
- Overnight in local house.

Day 11
- Breakfast at local house.
- Extra day as margin in case of bad weather.
- Lunch and dinner at local house.
- Overnight in local house.

Day 12
- Breakfast at local house.
- Flight Kulusuk - Reykjavik.
- Dinner at your own.
- Night in Reykjavik.

Day 13
- Breakfast at your own.
- Transfer to Keflavik International Airport.
- Flight Reykjavik - Country of residence.

WARNING

This trip is an expedition where unforeseen circumstances may occur and therefore the program is subject to change on the ground for weather reasons, logistical factors, ice and snow conditions or force majeure.

- Rental of all specific polar equipment (parka, boots polar expedition mittens, sleeping bags, etc.).

- Accommodation in Iceland.
- Transfers and transport in Iceland (except the Keflavik International Airport to Reykjavik roundtrip).
- Meals in Iceland.
- Meals in airports and airplanes.
- Anything not specified in the paragraph included.
- Extra costs of lodging, meals, extra days of sled dogs and local guides due to delays because of weather, ice conditions, snow conditions, logistics inherent in the Arctic, strikes at airports and any other cause beyond the Arctic World control.
- Expenses and procedures to get the visa to Iceland, Greenland, the European Union or other countries if required.
- Air companies expenses due to excess of personal baggage.
