Alpine skiing at the Arctic Circle
Alpine skiing in the best resort of Lapland (Finland), home of the Ski World Cup 2004 and 2006. Few know that at 170 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle is a lonely mountain called Levi. From its summit, you can see what may be the best view in Finnish Lapland: a vast snowy plain dotted with frozen lakes and boreal forest that are lost on the horizon. And in this isolated mountain are the Levi ski resort.
When you climb to the top of Levi in a next-generation cable-car, you begin to guess why they held on these slopes the Ski World Cup 2004. But when you go down the Supergiant slope, with all Lapland at our feet, one is awed by the majestic beauty of this land. So, in 2006 Ski World Cup repeated in Levi. Why is that?

Is it, perhaps for its premium quality powder snow? or Is it because its 47 varied ski tracks, with a maximum length of 2,500 meters, ranging from beginner's tracks to a Superpipe, through playground, until the 52% gradient tracks for experts? Or maybe by its 26 lifts with capacity for 25,000 people per hour to avoid tedious queues. Or maybe it's because the inhabitants of this place are people really hospitable...

But not only is skiing without crowds that Levi offers. In the ancestral land of the Saami many ideas arise after a frantic day on the slopes. Dinners in a typical Lappish "kota", live concerts, spectacular snowmobile trips, bath in a spa resort, husky dogsledding, sauna in the country that invented it, relaxing reindeer sleigh rides. And all with the magical backdrop of the Northern Lights...
